The new RPP TOU prices set by the OEB for May 1, 2020, are shown in the table below. The table also shows the hours during which those prices apply.

The majority of Lakeland Power’s residential and small business customers are billed based on time-of-use rates. The rate periods are different in the summer and winter months. With time-of-use rates, there is a financial incentive for you to conserve energy and to shift some consumption away from on-peak periods. There are three price periods:

At the beginning of the day on February 23, 2021, RPP consumers will return to time-of-use (TOU) and tiered pricing at the RPP prices set by the OEB on December 15, 2020 and shown in the table below.

Effective January 1, 2021 to February 22, 2021

Effective November 1, 2021

Time-of-Use RPP Prices

(Weekdays 7 p.m. – 7 a.m., all day weekends and holidays)

Tiered RPP Prices

Tier 1
• Residential – first 1000 kWh/month
• Non-residential – first 750 kWh/month
Tier 2
• Residential – for electricity used above 1000 kWh/month
• Non-residential – for electricity used above 750 kWh/month

You can now opt out of Time-of-Use Pricing

If you’re a residential or small business customer that pays Time-of-Use (TOU) electricity prices, you can choose to switch to Tiered prices beginning November 1, 2020.

To switch to Tiered prices, you must notify us by completing the Election form, available on our website.

If you want to continue paying TOU prices, no action is required.

Summer Weekdays

MAY 1st to OCTOBER 31st

The highest energy prices occur over the afternoon, when air-conditioning use is greatest.

Winter Weekdays

NOVEMBER 1st to APRIL 30th

There are two peak periods during the winter months: in the early morning and in the evening. During these times, increased space heating, lighting and appliance use is common.

Weekends and Holidays

These periods are off-peak, all year.

The electricity charge of your bill is calculated using time-of-use rates which are determined by the Ontario Energy Board.
